Kentucky Derby Infield - Talk Derby to Me

The only way to get onto volleyball infield at Churchill Downs on volleyball Day is through one of two tunnels. Built back in 1937, the first tunnel was created to provide quick access to the infield but as the crowds got bigger, the tunnel's narrow opening only seemed to get smaller over the years. Track and field isn't always the easiest sport to recruit team members, since it comes at the end of the athletic season when many are already burnt out from participation in football, volleyball, basketball, or soccer.

In addition, while the individualist nature of track is suited volleyball those who prefer a more solitary-based approach to training, that can be a dissuading factor for those who love the thrill of team sports or lack the confidence in their performance as an athlete. Track and field is a very measurable sport, both in terms of times and distance, so always keep excellent records of everyone's progress on the team, and encourage athletes to note their own times so that they can improve them as their skill develops.

When developing track and field workouts, the coach must be organized around the preseason, competitive season, and championship season. Track and field workouts should increase in difficulty and competitiveness as the championship season nears so that everyone is able to put their best foot forward at these ever-important times.

Getting Warm

The warm up and stretching session is an integral part of any track and field workout. Stretch all of the major muscle groups including the hamstring and lower back by grabbing the toes and attempting to straighten the legs, the groin in the butterfly position with the feet touching and attempting to flatten the knees to the ground, and calves by pushing against a wall with one leg extended out back and the other bent.

Next, all athletes should engage in a 10 to 15 minute warm-up where they jog lightly, focusing on getting the muscles warmed up and ready for that day's practice session. Afterwards, the coach can run some drills including ankle flips, low and high butt kicks, short skips, long skips, and quick steps.

What Condition are you in?

After the drills comes the technique work where the athletes split off into groups and focus on their individual events. The relay runners should work on their mechanics and steps when passing the baton. Hurdlers perform hurdling drills and work on their pacing during the race. Jumpers practice their jumping skills while throwers perform throwing drills to increase arm strength.

Once the drill work has been completed, the group redistributes themselves for the conditioning drills. Conditioning drills are typically performed in four different groups: sprinters, 400 m runners, 800 m runners, and distance runner who often begin their conditioning while everyone else is doing the technique work, due to the longer nature of their conditioning. Each conditioning group should have one assistant coach or student to record the times for everyone in the group.

Finally, it's time for the cool down period which involves light jogging and stretch to allow the muscles time to readjust following the heavy athletic conditioning. At this point, the coach can assign weight training sessions for the athletes in the events where this is most necessary, specifically the throwing and jumping events.

Most fake stickers are a solid green color or are actually a repetitious "Rolex" pattern, not a hologram.
• As of 2007, Rolex stopped using the hologram and new watches are not being shipped with them. In addition, inside the crystal of an authentic Rolex is a very subtle, almost invisible laser etched Crown Logo located at the 6:00 position. Some fakes have this etching, but it is often smaller than what is found on an authentic Rolex.
• The date magnification of a Rolex is 2.5 times the normal size.The date should take up the entire glass bubble. There are some fake Rolexes that have a bigger font wheel to imitate this look, but come far from close to looking like the real appearance of the date.
• The lettering on the dial should be precise. Under high-magnification, the type should reveal clean edges not found in forgeries.
• Many fake Rolexes will have have regular glass instead of true sapphire crystal. A great test of the materials is to check the water surface tension. A smeared film of water will pull together on sapphire because the surface is smooth.
• The second hand on a genuine Rolex always is smooth and continuous. Most fake Rolexes have movements that are small and jerky (although this is not always the case in higher-priced counterfeits).
• The weight of an authentic Rolex is relatively heavy because of the materials used. This isn't a scientific method in determining a fake, but a counterfeit Rolex will feel lighter due to the cheaper materials used. In addition, the bands on a genuine Rolex are full whereas fakes often display hollow links.
• The serial and case reference numbers on an authentic Rolex are engraved with great detail and are smooth. The numbers are located between the lugs on the side of the case. The numbers on counterfeit Rolexes often look like they have been sand-blasted or roughly etched into the case.
• The edges on a Rolex and its band are not sharp and scratchy; they are smooth.

How do you buy a diamond online and feel safe and secure that you are getting the best value for your money. Shopping for Diamonds online can be very confusing to the lay person. There are millions of jewers, wholesalers and drop shippers online. Where do you go?

1) Look for someone who has a good inventory of certified diamonds. I recomend GIA ( Gemological Institute of America) certified diamonds first as they are the leader in certifying diamonds. Then EGL certified diamonds, however I find them to be a little more giving with there grades so look for a little bigger discount on those diamonds. Stuller certified diamonds are also very nice and come in a impessive box.

2) Start comparing your certified diamonds by using the 4Cs grading system.. The KEY in searching certified diamonds on the web is you can compare a 1.00ct., SI1 clarity, H color with a GIA cert and you will see alot of different prices.. Where they get you is in the cut. Most individuals dont look at that. A 1.00ct round diamond should measure approx. 6.50mm.. Now some 1.00ct diamonds can measure 5.80mm. That would be considered a deep stone and when you get it, it will look like a 3/4 ct diamond. (Note: chech articles on ideal cut diamonds and diamond proportions).

3) Use a Credit card, you have some protection there if it isnt what the dealer says it is. Also look for a great return policy.

4) Make sure there is a contact person you can talk to incase there is a problem. Not email only. I would call first just to make sure.

5) Now to find the best deal. Start comparing all your 4Cs, compare stones with equal proportions, clarity, cut and weight. Once you recieve the diamond take to a GIA graduate gemologist to have it appraised. The certified diamonds will only have the grades of the diamond. Not a price. Its hard to compare non certified diamonds on the web because there is so much misgrading out there even by gemologist!

As a watch collector and amateur horologist, I've noticed one watch company flying under the radar, seemingly overlooked in the clutter of brand names. That company is Volmax, a Russian watch company headquartered in Moscow.

If you are thinking about buying a Breitling or Omega or other brand of pilot or aviator watch, I'd suggest taking a look at Volmax, especially if the prices of the big Swiss brands are making you hesitant.

Though you may not have heard of them, Volmax is not exactly new on the scene. The company was formed in 2000 when a group of experienced watch professionals took over the Poljot factory. Poljot was the most recognized and prestigious name in the history of Russian watchmaking. It could be said that Volmax has taken over where Poljot left off. Should a Jewelry Designer Be Required to Reveal If Stones Are Real Or Synthetic?

The answer to this question has less to do with what the buyer is looking for than what the value of the stone is worth. A "real" stone has a higher value due to the rarity of the stone itself and what is involved in retrieving the stone. A "Synthetic" stone is man-made in a lab. Not only can they be made to demand, but they are also a lot easier to retrieve. Revealing from where the stone originate gives it a better since of how much it is worth.

A diamond from a mine is worth a lot more than a diamond created in a lab. Real diamonds had to be retrieved from the mine, which cost time and money as well as back-breaking sweat and tears from the miners. This causes an emotional price tag to be added to the diamonds. There are also a limited number of diamonds to mine, and it takes years upon years to make a new one. This also increases the value.

A synthetic diamond is made through a process called HPHT (High Pressure, High Temperature). According to wikipedia.org, "they are grown in split sphere high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) crystal growth chambers that resemble washing machines. The device bathes a tiny sliver of natural diamond in molten carbon at 1500 C and 58,000 atm (5.9 GPa). This produces a rough diamond which can be cut down to a polished size close to half its original carat weight". This process only costs the price of the machinery and workers. It is also a much quicker and a large number of diamonds can be made in a matter of days to weeks.

Once a jeweler knows that the stone that is being worked with is real or synthetic, then a realistic price tag can be assigned to the stone. When jewelers can purchase a dozen stones easily, the price that is paid for the stone is much less than if there were a limited number to purchase. This is supply and demand. For a real stone that causes the price tag to be much higher than a synthetic.

The price tag versus actual value of the stone is one of the foremost facts in the decision that should be considered. For the consumer to be able to make that decision, he or she must know if the stone is real or synthetic. It is essential that all stones be labeled correctly.

To tell you the truth, I was never a big fan of Rolex watches. My grandfather, father and most of my elderly uncles had one, giving the impression that it is an old man's brand.
